Dr.FAMH Franca Baggi Menozzi

Responsible for microbiological analyses


She is actually active professionally at LDM in Lugano and at the "Servizio di microbiologia EOLAB" in Bellinzona. At LDM she is in charge for the Quality Management and she is Director, as an FAMH, of microbiologic analyses. She studied biology at the University of Zurich (1986) obtaining a degree in molecular biology with the work on  "The Hormone Binding Domain of the Glucocorticoid Receptor influences Co-operativity in the Process of in Vivo DNA Target Recognition" tutored by Prof.  Dr.  S. Rusconi and Prof. Dr. W. Schaffner at the "Institut für Molekularbiologie II der Universität Zürich".


In 1994 she starts her FAMH formation in Ticino under the supervision of Prof. R. Peduzzi and Prof. J-C Piffaretti and at the "Institut für Infektionskrankheiten" of the University of Bern under the supervision of Prof. L. Matter and she obtains the title in 1996.


In 2001 she get a PhD at the University of Geneva supervised by Prof. R. Peduzzi with the work on "Approches moléculaires des aspects sanitaires hydriques: détection et génotypage de virus et corrélations avec les indicateurs classiques". In 2001 she also obtains the complement DNA/RNA for medical microbiology and since 2010 she is active as technical expert in microbiologic analyses for the Swiss Accreditation Office (SAS) with the aim to check and authorize other strucutres (laboratories) to comply to the international law regulating laboratories doing medical analyses.
